Review: Releasing the demons, by L.D. Rose

Review 4.5 stars

Wow!! Scorching book!!

This is the first book for the series The order of the Senary, and it is placed in a world where vampires are the dominating race, and the humans that are caught are considered nothing more than cattle for food.

During the day, the humans are able to go about their business, while at night the vampires come out and play.

But there is a third “kind”…. The hybrids. There are not a lot of them, because they were exterminated, but the few that remain are known as the Knight family.

In this book you get to know Blaze.
The name is not by chance, because the hybrids have half DNA from humans, and half from vampires, they got special traits, and Balaze’s trait is fire.

He is a very tortured guy who was held captive by the vampires for many months, and left him very scarred, not only on the outside but on the inside as well.

We also get to know Valerie, a NYPD detective, a very smart (sometimes smart ass), very grounded and tough woman. Who had the misfortune of having seen the way her sister had died at the hands of vampires, so she grew up and became a cop, then a detective so she could help those who have no one to speak up for themselves.

She is on the trail of a brutal murder, and the suspect she is following matches the description to a T, except there are thing that does not check out, and she is no dumb lady, so she follows her instincts and ends up partnering with her prime suspect.

For me, a book that unravels in my mind like a movie is priceless… and this book made me forget I had my own life and my own reality. There was a moment after a very dramatic scene that I had to put the book down, breath and unclench my shoulders, my arms and my legs!!! I was so tight!!!!!

As you can guess, I really liked the book! It took me a little to get into the story because L. D. Rose had to paint the world, but once the story starts to unravel, everything moves quickly and flawlessly!

It really is very well written, on both points of view. The tension is palpable and the chemistry is on fire.
I will definitely start the second book as of right now!!

I was given this book, by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Sparking the Fire, by Kate Meader

sparking the fire

SPARKING THE FIREfire_animated_text_divider

5 out of 5 sizzling stars!!
Sizzling hot, rise the temperature funny, quirky novel with a too hot to handle firefighter, and a courage to the max actress with a funny mind.

This is the 3rd book on the Hot in Chicago series… a series that you definitely want to read!!!!

This is the story of Wyatt Fox. The last bachelor son of the Dempseys. And he will keep it that way thank you very much, that is why he hangs on to that amazing week with an (at the moment) unknown woman that fuels his fantasies.

He is a recluse that avoids the limelight like the plague so it comes as a shock to him that he is now the new movie consultant for the CFD.

And not only that but he is about to face the woman of his fantasies, literally , because Molly Cade is the star of the movie in which he is the consultant and is the same woman from years ago.

Molly Cade came crashing down hard… after being at the top, an A lister in Hollywood, her divorce and the leaking of some racy photos, personal photos she took for her husband, left her ostracised and at the bottom.

So now., she has her opportunity to shine and gain her footing…. All she needs is the stamp of approval from Alex Dempseys, but there is a human wall literally and figuratively, preventing her from reaching her goal. To get to Alex she need to go through Wyatt.

She could have used the wall, but it was five feet away and his arm was right there attached to a human wall, and what harm could it do? Untold amounts, it seemed………… […] Positively porn-worthy.

She is a funny and quick witted person that was dealt a bad hand, but now she sees her opportunity of redemption, but her heart may get in the way of her dreams… or maybe her dreams change….

Their chemistry hasn’t diminished in the lightest in the last 5 years that they haven’t seen each other.

The story is very well written, you simply cannot fall in love with the Dempseys and their love and protectiveness of each other. The way they embrace family, being blood family or not. But at the same time, the funny way of them, their ribbing and roughing of each other.

“What in the fuckity fuck of all that is fucking fucked did you do to drive your woman away?”

Kate Meader is a great storyteller, and this sizzling sorry melts your heart all the way. Family shining through all the way. Reflecting on what is family, not only blood , but bonds, loyalty, and sticking together through thick and thin.

Great book!!!!!

Praise for Sparking the Fire, Book 3:

“The tale of hot firefighters and the women—and one man—who love them has come to an end. Meader ends this series with role playing, fierce family loyalty and multiple orgasms. The male protagonist goes through a transformation that showcases his vulnerability, insecurities, possessiveness and protectiveness. The many instances of a family sticking together through it all are more than enough to tug on the heart strings, but the steamy sex and sentimental pillow talk make this book a must-read.”

RT Book Reviews Four Star Review, Scorcher

“Can a firefighter and a movie star really make it work? Meader (Rekindle the Flame, 2015) immerses you in Wyatt’s tight-knit family of foster siblings that she’s built throughout the Hot in Chicago series, and readers will feel like part of the family in no time. Her descriptions of Chicago will leave fans wanting to travel to the Windy City and fall in love with their own firefighters.”

About Sparking the Fire, Book 3:

Heating up reading lists this Fall will be Kate Meader’s highly anticipated Sparking the Fire, the “sexy and sassy” (#1 New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux) steamy third novel in the Hot in Chicago series, where former lovers unexpectedly reunite for a sizzling affair that will have the director yelling, “Quiet on the set!”

Wyatt Fox, resident daredevil at Engine Company 6, needs a low key job to keep him busy while he recovers from his latest rescue stunt. Consulting on a local movie shoot should add just enough spark to his day. But then in struts Molly Cade: the woman who worked his heart over good, and then left him in the Windy City dust.

Actor Molly Cade, America’s fallen sweetheart, finally has her shot at a Hollywood comeback with a dramatic new role as a tough-as-nails firefighter that promises to propel her back into the big time. And she’s not going to let anything stand in her way—even a certain brooding, blue-eyed firefighter she’s never quite been able to forget…Their story is straight out of a script: irrepressible, spunky heroine meets taciturn, smoldering hero. But these two refuse to be typecast, and when the embers of an old love are stoked, someone is bound to get burned…

About the Author:

Kate Meader was raised on romance. An Irish girl, she started with Catherine Cookson and Jilly Cooper novels, and spiced it up with some Mills & Boon. Now based in Chicago, she writes romances of her own, where sexy contemporary alpha heroes and strong heroines match each other quip for quip. When not immersed in tales of brooding mill owners, oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, Kate lives on the web at

Review: Destined for a King, by Ashlyn Macnamara

Destined for a King

4 out of  5 star!!!!

This is the beginning of a great series. I think there is so much this books can offer.

The stress and the angst that go hand in hand with the battle and the Taking of a Keep, with coming face to face with the apparent love of your life, the mate you are supposed to be with. The claiming of something you lost as a child but now you are taking back as man.
But above all the claiming of your own true self!!!

Josse Vandal, the true name of Torch the rightful heir to the throne, usurped by another, the mere name of him is considered treason so now he is left as an outlaw, but this man has grand plans to retake what is his.

In his quest, he comes to take Blackbriar Keep, but finds himself face to face with the same girl he’s dreamed of for many years and has come to claim her as his… hoping against hope that she will accept him as he is.

Calista, the daughter of Belwin Thorne, the warden of Blackbriar Keep, was always “destined for a King”. And that is what was accorded between her father and the King. Except they didn’t anticipate that Torch would take the Keep, and try to wed Calista.

Calista is a beautiful young lady, that despite what life throws at her, she makes the better of the situation. She finds herself suddenly divided between what she knew to be right, and what she was trained to think, versus what she is seeing now, and especially what she is feeling at the moment.

But once she makes up her mind, she follow through with a clear mind and a straight back!

I really liked the book, it has very a good plot line. The only thing that makes this book a 4 star instead of the 5 star, is, that the love between the characters comes too quickly, too easily for my liking.

But the strength of character and loyalty that our heroine displays, is what makes this book great.

It helps that Torch is a highly likeable alpha, that has the love and loyalty of his followers. And even though he has a horrible reputations, Calista is smart enough to have and make her own opinions of the man in front of her.

All in all this is a series that I do plan on reading whole. I can’t wait for Torch to meet face to face with the usurper, and for Calista to be the queen!!

Review: Beautifully Burned, by C.J Burright

5 out ot 5 stars

Gripping, funny and with it’s I-want-to-throw-the-book-but-can’t-really-let-it-go moments!

C.J Burright managed to weave dreams and reality again, chilling us with her nightmarish characters, but binding us with the love and strength of her characters.

Things just turned worse for the characters but it definitely turned for the better for us readers!!! We can even learn new words… like… Fanflippintabulous!!!!

This is the second book in The dreamcaster series. And if you haven’t read the first one, it’s no deal breaker, but I strongly suggest you read the first one in order to really understand the subtleties and the characters that make this book great.

Here we have Ella, a young woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders. The owner of a bar, that is trying to stay afloat, and the care of her catatonic sister.

She tries real hard to keep up with everything and on top of that she has nightmares that won’t let her have a restful sleep, reliving the inferno and death of her grandmother, and making her afraid of fire. Still she makes the better of what she has.

Except suddenly she is yanked from the life she knows and is being taken somewhere by a guy she doesn’t even know, and really why trust him only because he stopped her heart when she first saw him? And there is this regular customer, a regular who suddenly morphed into a stranger, and apparently a deadly one.

With no one to trust, who can she turn to? She still has to take care of her sister, and the bar.

The Blue, a broken husk of a man, except for the bond with Kalila that brings him a little piece of peace, he is learning to live anew. But now he has to help and protect a dreamcaster that apparently is his. But to claim his dreamcaster, she has to claim him back, and to do so, he has to sever his bond with Kalila…sever the bond that brought him to life.. Will he be able to do it?

All the while he need to learn to control his feelings, which he didn’t know he was capable of having, and dodge an invisible assassin.

Can they find the courage to confide and trust that the other one will not betray them?

We see recurring characters like The Black, Kalilia, and Mel, and also The White and Alun , a character that brings a spark of fun and joy for this book.
I love that some of the character are not perfect, that Kalila still has her sourly disposition. That The Black is still a nightmarish guy, only tamed by his dreamcaster.

And now we have a hint of what is to come!! We have a new enemy but we also have a new story that I cannot wait to read!!

Definitely a series that I’ll keep reading!! And that I recommend!!

5 out of 5 thrilling stars

Definitely a book to read!!!

There are people that want Dani for their own, to have her locked up and never see the light of day ever again, only to be used for their nefarious purposes.

There are others who also want her but for other reasons, as a link to someone else, and both of them will stop at nothing to get her.

Dani has been on the run from her past and from herself for the last few years, but now she finds herself contemplating and wanting a life she knows she can never have, but can Mark provide it for her? can he learn her secret and still consider her human?

Even though Dani is a submissive person, she has the heart and the spine of a warrior! her courage in the face of adversity is one of the thing that has Marc falling very hard for her. And even though she has been through a lot, she still has the ability to open herself up for another human being. She has always felt as less than human, and hated her special ability, but now, she has found that there are advantages to having it!!

Can you say Alpha male? well Marc Crofton  is the perfect definition of an alpha male! and on the plus side, he is gorgeous.

As an ex-military PI, and  owner of a BDSM club, he has all the  necessary traits and ingrained  predisposition to keeps safe and alive his new love interest.

I have some issues with his personality, but that is just me, apparently  I’m not as submissive, lol. but you just can’t help but fall for the guy when all he wants is to protect Dani at all costs. And of course you just fall in love with his sidekicks, two very well trained and loving (with Dani)  German Shepherds.

The heat between the two character sizzles, and all the erotic scenes are very well written. Definitely a plus for the story.

The characters are well developed, and the story is a never ending suspense.

If you haven’t read the other books in  this series, this can be read as a stand alone book, but there are some references that you do need the previous book to understand. You wont be lost, that I can promise you.
