An unlikely grave by Reily Garret
Genre: Thriller
Published: December 8, 2020
As always, Reily Delivers. The descriptions that the author uses, are very image evoking so when she goes dark, all the nitty-gritty are perfectly clear on my mind!
We have a killer with a very twisted view of the world. We get to hear first hand what he is
thinking, and wow… he has his own sense of morale and logic.
“The calm of nature, seclusion from nosy humans who didn’t understand the basics of life, the solitude of eternal rest while looking down on any who passed below. His girls deserve all that and more”
Our heroes are Brook and Josh had been highschool sweethearts and had not seen each other in a long time.
Josh escaped to the military, leaving his sister in a hell hole, which always grated against him. But he actually wanted to finish training and do something good with himself so he could do good by his sister.
Brook, had to suddenly grow up and become an adult with a teenage child, her parents died leaving her the guardian and sole provider for her sister.
So each has his own set of problems, but together they try and make it better.
But also, this time besides the lead couple, we have 2 new additions to the banter of the couple!! The sisters!!!
“Please ignore the walking hormone.”
Wow, they are the comedic relief when our hero and heroine are just starting to reconnect, and that my dear reader is so very fun!!!!
‘I do appreciate your help in the shower. When’s a good time?’ “I’ll bet a lot of girls would like his help with the shower…”
Since this book is part of a series( but mind you, it can be read as a stand-alone, but if you read it as a whole, it enhances the whole experience) we get to greet past couples, and we get to re-experience the adoption into the group of a new couple. Like visiting old friends.
‘Coyote’s running commentary on the hazards of jail life, on the other hand, amused the gell out of her. ‘ “We’re sick bastards with an itch for new and imaginative entertainment” Coyote on speaking about the culprit in jail.
Our heroes are fighting against time before a serial killer ends up killing one or the other, or a detective with a grudge finishes blaming Josh for the mistakes of others.
Definitely, a book to read if you love a little dark but a beautiful HEA.
